1964 |
"Les Applications du Brasage" was founded in Villetaneuse near Paris. In partnership with a company specialized in metal
stamping belonging to the family-owned G. Vantroyen group, importers and wholesalers of sintered parts for car manufacturers,
the company carried out studies on brazing processes in continuous furnaces.
1967 |
In 1968 it became a public limited company and developed the manufacture of brazed parts and subassemblies.
The favourable prospects for development led the owners to widen their activities.
In 1974, the company relocated to Gasny on a 20 000 m² site comprising a 1000 m² workshop, where production continues today.
At that time production centred entirely on crankshaft pullies for the Citroën 2CV.
At the end of the 1970s Citroën changed the technology of its pulleys. SAB was badly hit by this modification,
downsizing from 35 to 6 employees in 1981.
1987 |
Consequently, the G. Vantroyen group decided to break away from its subsidiary. A management buyout resulted in the birth of a
holding company called "Brasage Développement".
1988 |
SAB obtained second prize in the Quality Initiative Awards organised by the Ministry of Industry and in 1989 was awarded EAQF
Constructor Certification..
1990 |
In order to maintain its strong development rate, SAB increased its production area from 1000 m² to 4500 m².
1993 |
SAB registered its first patent relating to the manufacturing process of an internal combustion engine connecting
rod and at the same time celebrated the production of its 120 millionth brazed banjo.
1994 |
In order to meet its customers' needs, ENRICAU took over "Les Applications du Brasage" thereby adding the brazing activity to its
technological portfolio
This created a strong synergy between brazing and machining.
1996 |
"Les Applications du Brasage" changed its name to become SAB "Société d'Assemblage et de Brasage".
In November 1996, the company achieved first prize in the Qualité Haute Normandie awards and in 1997 obtained
ISO 9002 certification.
1997 |
To meet market requirements SAB acquired expertise in metallic pipe forming technology,
by buying "Technicintre", its main subcontractor in this field.
2003 |
SAB proceeded to reorganise its production system based on a policy of Lean Manufacturing and defects reduction thereby
positioning itself in line with the highest quality and productivity standards in its sector. Three Autonomous Production
Units were created in order to meet customers' requirements in terms of pipe forming, welding and brazing, in volumes ranging
from small series production (prototypes) to mass production (several million parts per year).
2004 |
Since then, SAB Industries' strategy has been focused to develop other markets in addition to the automotive, essentially
in the agricultural and renewable energy sectors. At the same time, SAB has continued its international development
in the automotive markets in Germany, Poland, Hungry, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Spain and Romania.
2004 |
SAB obtained ISO TS 16949 : 2002 certification, renewed every year since then.
New technology has been added : laser welding in addition to the TIG electric welding, MAG welding and brazing.
2006 |
SAB was designated as an "Innovative Company" by OSEO ANVAR, in recognition of the work undertaken
to develop the high pressure diesel injector / common rail project (2500 bars) for the 2006 third generation
common rail system.
2008 |
SAB is a member of the MOVEO competitiveness cluster.
